Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient healing practice which originated in India. It dates back as far as 2500 to 7000 years ago.

At Kaizen Health Group, we believe in offering therapeutic services to our clients at an affordable rate. That’s why, we have Non-RMT options for those without insurance. If you are looking for an authentic Thai Massage in Mississauga or the GTA, look no further! We have Registered Therapists and Certified Practitioners who can help you achieve your wellness goals.

Thai massage is an ancient healing art that has been passed down through generations and is often referred to as “Lazy Yoga”. Thai Massage requires more movement than a regular massage as your Therapist or Practitioner will aim to relieve joint and muscle pain through stretches.

During your session, you can expect that your Therapist or Practitioner will use more than just their hands; they may kneel on your feet, stand on your back and incorporate elbows and shoulders to reach deeper pressure points. This type of massage usually involves twisting and pulling to elongate your muscles and loose clothing is recommended.

Traditional Thai massage is usually done in a quiet room with soft music playing in the background. Thai Massage has been gaining more popularity in Canada and we are proud to offer our clients throughout Mississauga and the GTA access to the many benefits it has to offer.

How Thai Massage is Different from Other Types of Massage

Thai Massage is a unique form of body massage that combines the benefits of both Eastern and Western massage techniques. Thai Massage uses pressure, muscle stretching, and compression to achieve its many benefits. This type of massage is also sometimes called Thai yoga massage or Nuad Boran.

Thai Massage is different from other types of massage because it:

  • Involves active and passive movement.
  • Uses hands, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure.
  • Employs rhythmic muscle compressions and stretches.
  • Integrates energy line work.
  • Is often done fully clothed.

Thai Massage is a beneficial service that provides deep relaxation. For those seeking alternatives to traditional massage therapy services, Thai Massage may be just what you are looking for.

Thai Massage

This massage works on your entire body while using a sequence of movements that is reminiscent of yogic stretching. The therapists use their palms and fingers to apply gentle pressure on your body. Then, they stretch and twist into different directions.

Like many other massages, it increases energy flow and improves flexibility and range of movements. During your session, you must wear loose and comfortable clothing to allow the practitioner to move your body through multiple stretches.

Techniques of thai massage

Skilled therapist using gentle pressure and stretching

Gentle Pressure and Stretching

This technique requires the therapist to use gentle pressure and stretching to relax your body and improve the flow of energy. It increases flexibility, relieves muscle soreness and joint tension.

Thai massage is both deeply relaxing and energising. This is also known as Thai yoga massage. The therapist uses his or her hands, knees, thumbs, fingers, forearms, elbows, palms, knees, legs, and feet to stretch, and gently massage the whole body.

Palm and Finger Pressure

Palm and Finger Pressure

The therapists use their palms and fingers in order to apply gentle pressure on your body. Then, they stretch and twist into different directions.

Using pressure points is relatively a risk-free practice, so it is usually safe to use alongside doctor-recommended treatments. Though scientists have not studied their procedures and efficacy, still people practice these therapies even today.

Pressure Point Massage

Pressure Point Massage

The therapist uses their fingers and thumbs to massage pressure points on your body. This helps to improve the flow of energy into the body and relieves tension and pain. There are not only one but many pressure points in the hands, These points are a part of a much larger chain of points that run up the arms.

Supporters of acupressure and reflexology believe that these points can help heal other parts of the body. People can try doing acupressure on themselves or use the services of a licensed practitioner who has studied pressure points and understands how they work.

Yogic Stretching

Yogic Stretching

In Thai massage, the sequence of movements that is used in Thai Massage is reminiscent of yogic stretching. This allows the therapist to work on your entire body.

Your muscles get stretched and your joints manipulated. This often gives you the benefit of increasing your flexibility, suppleness and range of movement. It also helps you to restore balance within and between the major muscle groups, eases pain and helps to improve your posture and reduces the chances of getting injured.

FAQ's

As Thai Massage incorporates different movements and stretches, you will normally remain fully clothed during your session. We recommend wearing loose fitting clothing or bring a spare set with you.

Your therapist/practitioner will do their best to tailor your massage to suit your individual needs. Whether or not your massage is painful will depend on many factors such as your health history. Your therapist or practitioner will provide an assessment before treatment and can answer any questions you may have. Please note, if you are experiencing any pain – you should always inform your therapist/practitioner of any pain or discomfort. They can reassess their pressure and techniques to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.

This will depend on your preference for how frequently you would like to attend sessions, as well as recommendations from your treating therapist/practitioner. Treatment plans are formed on a case-by-case basis and will be highly reliant on your current health needs and physical condition. If you are interested in adding Thai Massage as a part of your regular health maintenance, please ask your therapist for their recommendations on a treatment plan.

Yes, Thai Massage and other massage services are generally safe if you are healthy and not at risk for issues during your pregnancy. We would always suggest that you speak with your doctor before attending a massage session during pregnancy to ensure that it is the right treatment for you. Massage carries the most risk during the first trimester and it is suggested that you wait until your second trimester to begin treatment unless authorized by a doctor.
